Interest & Membership
Based on meeting attendance and subscription to our discussion list, approximately 17 residents expressed interest in starting a community garden at the Talisman. We discussed having an organic communal garden, where all members participate in decision making and planting and share the resulting harvest (versus each one having a separate plot).
In order to fund the project, we will ask residents to join by paying a small membership fee. Actual amount has not yet been determined, anyone who pays dues and works in the garden will share the harvest.
Garden Information
We have an active blog and discussion list at:

These are accessible to all Talisman residents. Everyone is welcome to browse and post to these online resources.
Talisman Community Garden Location
A rectangular area measuring 30′ x 15′ on the south side of the club house We chose this spot for it’s optimal sun/shade combination as well as it unobtrusiveness.
We had locates done which identified all phone, electric and gas lines in the proposed area. Our location does not contain any buried utilities.
We would like to store two composting bins on the west side of the building (rear of the Club House) as well as a few straw bails and leaf matter. Also, we plan to put some type of fencing (most likely chicken wire) around the beds to protect from scavenging animals and neighborhood pets.
For more details on the location see http://talismancommunitygarden.info/?page_id=7
