HOA Guidelines

The HOA Board is very supportive of the idea of the community garden, but must consider the other homeowners in the community, in addition to maintenance of the property and certain liability issues. We appreciate your efforts to create a garden and strengthen the community.
In response to the community garden proposal, the board supports the proposal with the following conditions:
  • You may create a garden approximately the size proposed behind the clubhouse (west side), not where you proposed on the south side or in any other common area or area with direct line of site to anyone’s unit.
  • You may remove the shrub located behind the clubhouse.
  • The HOA Board cannot provide any funds to the garden.
  • The HOA Board cannot allow you to store your tools in the shed in the clubhouse.
  • You must have had the lines located in the area before you dig. (which is done).
  • You must hand dig your footings for the raised beds, and are responsible for any broken sprinkler lines or any other cables.
  • The chickenwire enclosure must be constructed to be as visually appealing as possible.

Additionally:
  • The garden club must have all participants sign a waiver of liability before beginning. We are waiting for a waiver from out attorneys that we will forward to you after reviewing it against the one you proposed.
  • The HOA Board is not responsible for any conflicts within your group.
  • No foul odor may emit from composting, etc.
  • You must create a posting and place in the mailbox areas in the community announcing the garden, the location, the cost to join, etc and requesting comments/concerns regarding garden.
  • You must not leave tools in the area when not immediately working in the garden.
  • At the end of the season, the chicken wire must be removed and stored and the garden should be neatly closed for the season.

Further, the Board has the right to close down the operation  for any reason, for example if there are extenuating problems which cannot be resolved in a timely manner.
